Latest Fantasy Rumors
Won't have top target Thursday
Stick will be forced to operate without Keenan Allen in the quarterback's first NFL start Thursday night against the Raiders, as the talented wideout will miss the game with a heel injury, Khris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stick acquitted himself fairly well by the numbers when handling emergency duty in Week 14 against the Broncos after Herbert exited, completing 13 of 24 passes for 179 yards without a touchdown or interception. However, he'll be missing a significant asset Thursday against a Raiders defense that's played well against the pass at home, although the return of Joshua Palmer from injured reserve and Austin Ekeler's elite pass-catching skills out of the backfield could certainly help keep the Chargers' air attack afloat.

Stick signed a modest one-year, $1.8 million deal this offseason presumably to back up Justin Herbert after spending his first couple of campaigns as the team's third-string option. As a result, the 2019 fifth-round pick has played just two regular-season snaps thus far in his NFL career, but he does have some notable positive traits, including a level of mobility that make him a dual-threat signal-caller. Now that Chase Daniel is no longer on the roster, expect Stick and 2023 rookie Max Duggan to compete for the top backup spot behind the Chargers' Pro Bowler.
