Ruslan Magomedov

Issued life-long suspension
HeavyweightUFC
April 1, 2019
Magomedov has been issued a life-long suspension by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency after failing a second and a third test, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov was issued a two-year ban by the USADA in February for a test that was flagged as positive, but following two more failures he has been barred from life for competing in UFC again. While the test that had him suspended initially in February was ruled positive Sept. 7, 2016, the two most recent come from a test Oct. 10, 2018, that came back positive, and a failure to comply with a drug test that was issued for Feb. 5, 2019.

Dealt two-year suspension
HeavyweightUFC
February 15, 2018
Magomedov has been suspended for two years by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for a violation of the UFC's anti-doping policy, Damon Martin of MMANYTT.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov was initially flagged for a positive test on Sept. 7, 2016, and his two-year ban will be credited retroactively to the original date of his provisional suspension (Sept. 26). Due to the lengthly arbitration process, he will be eligible to compete in the UFC again at the end of Sept. 2018. Magomedov had originally appealed on grounds that he had taken a tainted supplement, but USADA ultimately ruled that "contamination was not a valid explanation" for the positive test. The Russian heavyweight will be only 31 years old when his suspension is complete, and at that time will look to continue his momentum built by winning his first three fights with the UFC.
Flagged for anti-doping violation
HeavyweightUFC
September 27, 2016
Magomedov has been flagged for a potential anti-doping violation, and may be facing suspension as a result.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov was recently pulled from a scheduled fight against Stefan Struve at UFC 204 due to a staph infection, and it now appears his luck has taken another turn for the worse. As is typical in these scenarios, there will likely be a lengthy investigation before any suspension is officially handed down. A worst-case scenario would be a two-year ban, but that would only occur in the event a positive test is confirmed and no appeal is heard.
Added to UFC 204
HeavyweightUFC
August 15, 2016
Magomedov will face heavyweight veteran Stefan Struve at UFC 204 on Oct. 8 in Manchester, England.
ANALYSIS
Magomedov has won nine straight professional bouts, including three in a row since entering the UFC. Struve will be his toughest test to date, however, as Magomedov enter this bout with a significant height and reach disadvantage against an opponent with a much more impressive UFC resume. The winner of this fight could find themself in the UFC's top-10 heavyweights before the end of 2016, though both seem to be a long ways away from a title opportunity.

HeavyweightUFC
October 3, 2015

ANALYSIS
Magomedov is one of the most technical heavyweights in the UFC. He always takes his time on the feet and he rarely gets caught out of position. He also exhibits terrific footwork. It wasn't all that entertaining to watch, but Magomedov improves to 3-0 in the UFC. Jordan is a solid fighter, so it was a nice win for the Russian. Bigger things await the 28-year-old.
