Marcelo Guimaraes

Looking at 2018 comeback
MiddleweightUFC
November 16, 2017
Guimaraes (knee), who has been out since 2016 and undergone multiple surgeries since, is hoping to rejoin the sport in March, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Guimaraes hasn't seen action in 20 months due to a multiple knee surgeries; after undergoing his first surgery, septic arthritis forced another one. Twenty days in the hospital led to his leg atrophying and another injury. After a long time off that involved starting his own American Top Team gym in Brazil, the fighter is itching to get back in the Octagon. Guimaraes hopes to return in March 2018 as a welterweight after spending time as a middleweight.

Marcelo Guimaraes: Brutally finished by Vitor Miranda in Vegas
MiddleweightUFC
March 5, 2016
Guimaraes lost to Vitor Miranda via TKO (strikes) at 1:09 of Round 2 at UFC 196 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
An argument can be made that Guimaraes actually won the first round, but he found himself eating repeated elbows to the side of his head early in Round 2 and that set up the huge kick to the head that ended the fight. It was an excellent stoppage from referee Chris Tognoni. It was Guimaraes' first fight since a June 2014 split decision win over Andy Enz. Overall, Guimaraes is now 2-2 in his first four UFC fights.
