Losing streak hits three
BantamweightUFC
May 4, 2019
Gagnon lost to Cole Smith via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Ottawa.
ANALYSIS
It was a poor effort from Gagnon against a late notice opponent. He was credited with a mind-numbing 23 total strikes landed over the course of the 15-minute bout and he was completely outclassed by the debuting Smith in Rounds 1 and 2. Gagnon actually had a four-fight winning streak from September 2012 to October 2014, but he has lost all three of his bouts since. Rarely fighting and ineffective when he actually does step into the octagon, Gagnon is in a whole heap of trouble moving forward.

BantamweightUFC
April 10, 2019
Gagnon will now face Cole Smith in a bantamweight fight May 4 at UFC Ottawa, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
After originally booked to face Brian Kelleher, Gagnon will now take on Cole Smith, who is making his UFC debut. Gagnon, who is making his return after over two years away from the octagon, should have the crowd's support fighting in his native country of Canada.
Booked for UFC Ottawa
BantamweightUFC
February 20, 2019
Gagnon (12-4-0) will take on Brian Kelleher (19-10-0) in a bantamweight fight May 4 at UFC Ottawa, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
"The Machine" returns to the Octagon after a two-plus year hiatus, with his recovery from a torn ACL largely responsible for his extended absence. Expect the 34-year-old Gagnon, a native of Sudbury, Ontario, to have the Ottawa crowd in his corner, which could help compensate for his lack of recent fighting experience.
No immediate plans for MMA return
BantamweightUFC
September 5, 2018
Gagnon (knee) has not officially retired from MMA, but is taking time off to focus on developing his business, The Sudsbury Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Gagnon is over a year removed from ACL surgery that forced him to withdraw from a July 16, 2017 matchup at UFC Glasgow. While he remains under contract with the UFC, it doesn't appear that any plans to fight are in his immediate future. The 33-year-old last competed in December of 2016, losing to Matthew Lopez via unanimous decision.
Recovering from ACL tear
BantamweightUFC
September 26, 2017
Gagnon (ACL) suffered an injury before his fight with Brett Johns that was set for UFC Glasgow back in July and is taking time to heal properly, Keith Dempsey of The Sudbury Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Gagnon was scheduled for his first fight of 2017 against Brett Johns, but suffered an undisclosed injury that forced him to drop out of the fight. It is now known that Gagnon suffered a torn ACL during training camp, the same ACL he tore back in 2014 when he lost to Renan Barao. Last time around, Gagnon was pushing for a quick return to the Octagon. This time is a different story. The fighter states that he is in no rush to return and plans to take whatever time he needs to ensure a full, healthy recovery. There is no definite timetable for Gagnon's return, but ACL injures can take about six to nine month to recover from including intense physical therapy and that doesn't include getting back into fighting shape.

ANALYSIS
