FanDuel NHL: Monday Playoff Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Monday Playoff Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

There is a chance for a couple of major victories Monday. The Capitals could finally vanquish the Penguins, and the Jets could make the conference finals for the first time in franchise history. However, you're probably more concerned about your daily fantasy lineup. These recommendations could help…

GOALIE

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG vs. NAS ($8,100): After posting a 2.34 GAA and .924 save percentage during the regular season, Hellebuyck has a 2.29 GAA and .925 save percentage in the playoffs. Additionally, his two worst starts came on the road, and this game is at home. The Jets have also scored 3.80 goals per game in the postseason, which is tops in the league, so the American netminder is getting plenty of offensive support.

CENTER

Evgeni Malkin, PIT vs. WAS ($8,400): Since returning from injury Malkin has a point in all three games he's played. He now has 13 points in his last 12 contests. Of course, you probably don't need to be told about Malkin's offensive prowess. Geno had 98 points in 78 games this year, after all. Meanwhile, the Capitals had a 3.29 GAA on the road this season.

Paul Stastny, WPG vs. NAS ($5,700): Stastny has been hot, as he has a six-game point streak. In that time he's tallied nine points total. Though he was great during the regular season, Pekka Rinne has had a playoff to forget. Through 11 postseason games Rinne has a 3.23 GAA and .898 save percentage.

WING

Patrik Laine, WPG vs. NAS ($7,600): Laine only has one goal in his last eight games, which is unusual for him, but he's still been contributing. In fact, he has a point in every single game in this series. He's also put 20 shots on net in five games against the Predators, and if he keeps that up, a goal should come. That's especially true give Pekka Rinne's struggles in the postseason.

Patric Hornqvist, PIT vs. WAS ($6,700): Hornqvist has a point in his last three games, and in his last 16 contests he's notched 20 points. Also, in those 16 games he's tallied 55 shots on net. As previously noted, the Capitals had a 3.29 GAA in away games this year, and on top of that Braden Holtby had a .907 save percentage.

Kevin Fiala, NAS at WPG ($4,000): Fiala started 64.2 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second highest on the Predators. Though he's dealt with injuries over the last few games, he did score a goal in each of the first two contests of this series. The Predators will likely need some depth scoring to keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive, and Fiala seems like a good a bet as any. With only four games on the slate, it's worth grabbing a Nashville player in case the Preds have a scoring outburst.

DEFENSEMEN

John Carlson, WAS at PIT ($6,100): Carlson had a career year, tallying 15 goals on 237 shots and added 53 assists. He also averaged 3:42 per game on the power play and notched 32 points with the extra man. In the playoffs, he's registered 11 points in 11 games along with 36 shots on net. As for the Penguins, they had a 3.02 GAA this season, highest of any playoff team.

Justin Schultz, PIT vs. WAS ($4,700): Schultz has a point in four of five games in this series, and five points overall against the Capitals. Stretching back into the regular season, he's managed 11 points in his last 13 contests. The defenseman has also seen his power-play minutes soar in the playoffs, as he has averaged 3:52 per game with the extra man. Washington had a 3.29 GAA on the road this season.
