FanDuel NHL: Thursday Playoff Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Thursday Playoff Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

There are only two NHL games Thursday on account of the fact the Golden Knights swept the Kings (seriously), leaving your options for daily fantasy quite limited. Nevertheless, I press on with my recommendations.

GOALIE

Sergei Bobrovsky, CLM vs. WAS ($8,700): Sure, Bobrovsky has allowed at least three goals in every game of this series, but keep in mind every game has gone into overtime. His postseason GAA is 2.62, while his save percentage is .925. That's even better than his .921 save percentage during the regular season. The only goalie who could reasonably be compared to Bob is Boston's Tuukka Rask, and he's on the road.

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS at CLM ($7,500): Yes, I just suggested Bobrovsky in net, but with only four teams in action it might be hard to completely avoid the Capitals. Though Kuznetsov doesn't have a point in his last two games, he had a whopping 21 in his previous 12. Plus, in those two most recent contests, he put 14 shots on net. The Russian also averaged 3:27 per game on the power play this year and tallied 30 points with the extra man.

Tomas Plekanec, TOR vs. BOS ($3,300): With Nazem Kadri suspended, Plekanec has been elevated to second-line center for the Maple Leafs. That gives him an increased role, as he played 17:58 in Game 3. He also picked up an assist in that contest. The Bruins were good defensively this year, even on the road, but in his last six games Tuukka Rask has a 3.21 GAA and .898 save percentage.

WING

Cam Atkinson, CLM vs. WAS ($6,900): Atkinson has a 12-game point streak wherein he's tallied 17 points and 53 shots on net. That includes six points with the extra man. The Capitals had a 3.29 GAA on the road, and Braden Holtby had a 2.99 GAA and .907 save percentage this season.

Rick Nash, BOS at TOR ($6,000): Nash tallied 41 shots on net in 11 games with the Bruins during the regular season, and in the playoffs he's added 11 more shots on goal. He also averaged 3:18 on the power play since being dealt to Boston. The Maple Leafs allowed 33.9 shots on net per contest, and Frederik Andersen has been struggling for a while now. Over his last 20 outings, he's posted a 3.41 GAA and .902 save percentage.

Thomas Vanek, CLM vs. WAS ($4,700): After joining the Blue Jackets, Vanek started 66.2 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. That was highest on the team. That favorable positioning paid off, as the Austrian notched seven goals and eight assists in 19 games. As previously noted, the Capitals had a 3.29 GAA in away games.

DEFENSEMEN

Torey Krug, BOS at TOR ($5,700): Krug has tallied five assists in this series to go with 12 shots on net. As mentioned earlier, the Maple Leafs gave up 33.9 shots on net per contest, so that isn't too surprising. The 27-year-old defenseman was also a force on the power play, as he notched 24 points with the extra man in 76 games.

Zach Werenski, CLM vs. WAS ($5,300): Werenski has three points in the playoffs, which is notable even if they all came in one game. He also ended the regular season with four points in five contests. Overall, the 21-year-old managed 16 goals on 207 shots in 77 games. He likely won't be too concerned about Braden Holtby and his .907 save percentage.
