FantasyDraft NHL: Monday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

GOALIE

Toronto Maple Leafs, TOR at BUF ($17,500): The Maple Leafs may be on the road, but they shouldn't worry. Buffalo has a 9-18-4 record at home. Additionally, the Sabres have only scored 2.37 goals per game, which ranks dead last in the NHL. Toronto's netminder isn't going to feel terribly threatened in this one.

CENTER

Bo Horvat, VAN vs. NYI ($11,700): Horvat has four points in his last two games and 20 in his last five. For a bigger sample size, the pivot has 15 points in 19 games since returning from a lengthy injury absence. The Islanders have been a disaster defensively. They have a league-high 3.56 team GAA and have also allowed the most shots on net per game (35.9).

Derek Stepan, ARI at EDM ($11,700): Stepan's career-low 6.4 shooting percentage has hurt his numbers all season, but he still has 40 points in 64 games. He also has three points and 21 shots on goal in his last six contests, so he's staying active. The Oilers have a 3.53 GAA at home, second highest in the NHL. Meanwhile, their penalty kill is worst in the league, and Stepan has averaged 2:39 per game with the extra man.

WING

Alexander Radulov, DAL vs. OTT ($13,000): After a brief dry spell, Radulov has five points in his last five games. That gives him 58 points overall in 65 games, including 16 on the power play. The Senators have a 3.42 team GAA and .897 save percentage, have allowed 33.1 shots on net per game and own the 28th-ranked penalty kill. They rank in the bottom six in all those categories.

Josh Bailey, NYI at VAN ($11,800): Bailey has been a power-play stud this season. He's averaged 3:01 per game with the extra man and tallied 28 power-play points in 62 games. The Canucks have the 26th-ranked penalty kill, so don't expect them to be able to keep Bailey in check. Plus, overall Vancouver has a 3.25 team GAA, so the winger doesn't necessarily need power-play time to have fantasy success in this matchup.

James van Riemsdyk, TOR at BUF ($11,500): Van Riemsdyk has started 63.0 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Maple Leafs. It's paid off, as he has 26 goals on 190 shots through 66 games. Buffalo has a 3.23 team GAA, fifth highest in the NHL, so van Riemsdyk may be able to light the lamp once again.

DEFENSEMEN

Alexander Edler, VAN vs. NYI ($11,700): Edler only has two goals on 127 shots through 53 games, giving him a 1.6 shooting percentage that seems destined to regress toward the mean. Besides, he has 24 assists, including five in his last seven contests. Considering that the Islanders have a league-worst 3.56 GAA and have given up 35.9 shots on net per game, this could be the matchup where Edler lights the lamp.

Olli Maatta, PIT vs. CGY ($7,400): The Flames have been struggling with Mike Smith injured. Since the All-Star break, Calgary has a 3.53 GAA and an .888 save percentage. Maatta already has a career-high 134 shots on net this season, and on top of that he has six points in his last eight contests.
