Yahoo DFS Hockey: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

There are seven NHL games Sunday, and they start at 3 p.m. EST. You'll need to get your lineups in early. Here are some players to target, and to avoid, for daily fantasy purposes.

GOALIE

Ryan Miller, ANA vs. CHI ($25): Miller has been excellent as John Gibson's backup, posting a 2.52 GAA and .925 save percentage. The Ducks are also 17-9-5 at home as well as 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. Chicago, meanwhile, is 13-15-5 on the road and 4-6-0 in its last 10 contests.

Goalie to Avoid:

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK at NJD ($37): The Golden Knights have been great at home, but on the road they are a more middling 17-11-3. They have also lost three games in a row. Vegas also has a 3.10 GAA in away games. The Devils' offense ranks in the middle of the league, but they added some talent at the trade deadline and have a red-hot Taylor Hall in their lineup.

CENTER

Eric Staal, MIN vs. DET ($22): Staal is having a truly fantastic season. He's notched 33 goals and 31 assists in 65 games, including 14 points on the power play. Jimmy Howard, who will be in goal for Detroit, has a 3.13 GAA and a .902 save percentage in his last 14 contests. Additionally, the Red Wings have the 23rd-ranked penalty kill.

Center to Avoid:

Henrik Zetterberg, DET at MIN ($18): Zetterberg has only averaged 6.0 fantasy points per game and he only has nine goals on the season. The Wild have been fantastic defensively at home. In Minnesota they have a 2.18 GAA which is lowest in the NHL.

WING

Travis Konecny, PHI at FLA ($19): Konecny has five goals and seven assists over his last 13 games. Additionally, he has 13 shots on net in his last four contests. The Panthers have a 3.15 GAA and have given up 34.3 shots on net per game. Konecny should be able to at least get a few pucks on net.

Corey Perry, ANA vs. CHI ($17): Perry doesn't score like he used to, but he does have 12 points in his last 13 games (and four in his last two ). The Blackhawks have a 3.21 GAA on the road. That includes some games with the injured Corey Crawford in net, though. Since the All-Star break Chicago has a 3.31 GAA.

Wings to Avoid:

Filip Forsberg, NAS at COL ($26): No disrespect to Forsberg, even if he only has one goal in his last 12 games. The Avalanche have a 2.34 GAA at home, which is second lowest in the league. Additionally, 18 of Forsberg's points have come on the power play, and Colorado has the third-ranked penalty kill.

Gabriel Landeskog, COL vs. NAS ($22): The Predators have a 2.50 GAA, which is second lowest in the NHL. They also have a league-best .923 save percentage. That makes this a particularly tough matchup for Landeskog. He's having a good season, but there are a lot of better matchups out there to take advantage of.

DEFENSE

Keith Yandle, FLA vs. PHI ($17): Yandle has averaged 3:19 with the extra man, tallying 13 power-play points in 62 games. On top of that, five of the eight points he's notched over his last 10 contests have been on the power play. The Flyers have the 29th-ranked penalty kill, so this matchup could really benefit Yandle.

Tyler Myers, WPG at CAR ($15): Myers has averaged 6.0 fantasy points per game. He's been helped by the fact he has 16 power-play points in 64 games, and on top of that he has eight points in his last eight contests. The Hurricanes have a 2.95 team GAA and also the 21st-ranked penalty kill.

Defensemen to Avoid:

Zach Werenski, CLM at SAN ($19): Though Werenski has three points over his last two games he only has one goal and eight points in his last 20 contests. The Sharks have a 2.61 GAA at home and have given up a mere 29.1 shots on net per game in San Jose. Plus, San Jose also has the top-ranked penalty kill, so don't expect Werenski to have any luck with the extra man.

Mike Matheson, FLA vs. PHI ($18): Matheson has averaged 5.1 fantasy points per game. That's fine, but there are many players with better averages that are cheaper, including two of his fellow Florida defensemen in Keith Yandle and Aaron Ekblad. The one place that the Flyers have struggled defensively is on the penalty kill, and Matheson has only played 0:55 per game on the power play.
