FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Semyon Varlamov, COL vs NSH ($7,900): The Avalanche have been a different team this season than last, and that starts with their home record. The 29-year-old netminder has followed suit, posting a 12-4 record, 2.22 GAA and .935 save percentage. As a team, Colorado is 23-8-1 at home and has won its last three at Pepsi Center averaging five goals per contest. Varlamov has won his last three starts while allowing just four goals averaging 30.6 saves per game.

Center

Mikko Koivu, MIN vs DET ($5,500): Koivu has come to life offensively of late and should continue his productive play against the Red Wings on Sunday. Over his last three games, Koivu has a goal in each outing while adding an assist. Over their last 13 games, the Red Wings have allowed 15 goals and 29 assists to centers making Koivu an even more attractive option.

Nolan Patrick, PHI at FLA ($4,500): The second-overall pick in the 2017 draft has been in a groove recently with five goals in his last seven outings, including one on Saturday of the power-play variety. The 19-year-old has taken a bit longer adjusting to the NHL game than some thought he would, but if his recent play is any indication, he's clearly taking strides and letting the game slow down for him. The Panthers have allowed 29 points -- 14 goals -- to centers over their last 12 games.

Wing

Evgenii Dadonov, FLA vs PHI ($6,000): Dadonov continues to produce at a high level at a discount, which has been a season-long trend. With 45 points -- 18 goals -- in 54 games, the 28-year-old has been comfortable skating alongside all-world center Aleksander Barkov. Over his last five games, Dadonov has recorded at least one point in four outings with three goals and five assists over that span. This salary is the highest Dadonov has seen all season and, believe it or not, there are still 15 wingers priced higher than the Russian on the four-game early slate.

Timo Meier, SJ vs CBJ ($5,100): The young winger is starting to live up to the expectations the Sharks had when they made him the ninth overall pick of the 2015 draft, a class that included the likes of Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner, among others. With a goal in three of his last four outings, Meier is up to 17 on the campaign to go along with 10 assists. Additionally, the Switzerland native averages 6.16 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes, the seventh-highest mark in the NHL.

Brandon Saad, CHI at ANH ($5,200): Saad's return to the Blackhawks has been a disappointment with just 15 goals in 65 games. However, Saad has always had the Ducks' number. Over his last six outings against Anaheim, Saad has recorded a point in each with six goals and two assists. The winger's shooting percentage is the lowest it's ever been at just over eight percent, but he's still generating 5.25 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes, showing some potential positive regression going forward.

Defense

Cam Fowler, ANH vs CHI ($5,200): Fowler has 28 points -- eight goals -- this season. While it's unlikely he'll match his total of 39 from last season, Fowler has a point in back-to-back games with a goal, two assists and eight shots on goal over that span. The Blackhawks have allowed the third-most fantasy points to defensemen over the last four weeks, surrendering seven goals, 24 assists and 111 shots on goal.

Zach Werenski, CBJ at SJ ($5,100): Werenski, one of the bright young defensemen in the NHL at just 20 years old, has a goal and two assists in his last two games and 29 points with 12 goals on the season. The Sharks have allowed eight tallies and 22 assists to defensemen over their last 14 games. The Michigan native has already surpassed his goal total from last season and has a great chance of lighting the lamp Sunday.
