FantasyDraft NHL: Monday Values

FantasyDraft NHL: Monday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

Though Monday is the trade deadline, don't forget there are actual games as well. In fact, there are five tilts on the NHL slate. Here are a handful of players I recommend for your daily fantasy lineups.

GOALIE

Colorado Avalanche, COL vs. VAN ($16,800): The Avalanche are 20-8-1 at home and get to face a Canucks team on the road for the second night of a back-to-back. The odds of Colorado picking up a win seem good, and it has a 2.45 team GAA in Denver as well. Vancouver, meanwhile, has only averaged 2.69 goals per game.

CENTER

Pierre-Luc Dubois, CLM vs. WAS ($10,100): Dubois has started 67.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, tops on the Blue Jackets. He's also picked up the offense recently, notching eight points in his last 10 contests. The Capitals have really struggled defensively on the road, as they've posted a 3.50 team GAA in away games.

Jonathan Drouin, MTL vs. PHI ($9,000): Drouin, like a lot of Canadiens, has had some offensive issues. However, that hasn't extended to the power play. He's averaged 3:19 per game with the extra man and tallied 15 power-play points in 56 games. Philadelphia has the 28th-ranked penalty kill, so this is a matchup that looks favorable for Drouin.

WING

Mikko Rantanen, COL vs. VAN ($12,300): Rantanen is tearing it up during a breakout season. The 21-year-old is skating alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog on a dangerous top line. The Finn has 56 points in 60 games, including 23 on the power play. The Canucks have a 3.23 team GAA and will be on the road for the second night of a back-to-back.

Travis Konecny, PHI at MON ($11,800): Konecny is on the top line alongside Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux, which is a great spot. The winger has tallied 24 points in his last 25 games. With Carey Price dealing with a concussion, Antti Niemi and the unproven Charlie Lindgren are left to tend the goal for the Canadiens.

Cam Atkinson, CLM vs. WAS ($11,700): Since returning from injury, Atkinson has nine points and 58 shots on net through 14 games. He still only has a 7.2 shooting percentage as well, which is a career low. As previously noted, the Capitals have a 3.50 team GAA on the road while allowing 34.5 shots on net per contest.

DEFENSEMEN

Shayne Gostisbehere, PHI at MON ($12,400): Gostisbehere may only have one goal in his last 12 games, but he's made up for it with 16 assists. Seven of those helpers came on the power play, and on the season he has 25 points with the extra man in 58 games. The Canadiens have the 26th-ranked penalty kill, and with Price out they aren't going to be any better on that front.

Tyson Barrie, COL vs. VAN ($12,000): Barrie has started bombarding the net with pucks, as in his last nine games he's notched 31 shots on goal. He's also tallied eight points in those nine contests, and with Erik Johnson out, the 26-year-old has an even bigger role offensively for the Avalanche. Vancouver has allowed 32.2 shots on net per game and has a 3.23 team GAA.
