DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Anton Khudobin, BOS at NYR ($8,200): The Boston backup continues to play well with a 3-1-2 record, .939 save percentage and 1.80 GAA through his past six outings, and he lands in a cushy matchup Wednesday. The Rangers enter with an active 4-10-0 record while posting a 43.06 Corsi For percentage and scoring just 2.27 goals per 60 minutes during the skid. Just note that the Bruins are playing their second road game in consecutive nights after topping Detroit 3-2 Tuesday.

CENTER

Auston Matthews, TOR vs. NAS ($7,100): The RotoWire NHL lineup optimizer is bullish about Matthews, and his salary isn't prohibitive. He's marked the scoresheet in six of his past eight contests for six goals and 10 points, and the Predators have also been more susceptible on the road with 11.34 high-danger scoring chances allowed per 60 minutes. Ideally, Matthews' ownership percentage will also remain in check with Connor McDavid and Patrice Bergeron also attracting a lot of attention.

David Krejci, BOS at NYR ($5,000): The veteran center has collected a respectable eight goals, 12 assists and 51 shots through his past 23 contests. He lands in a soft matchup against the Rangers, as New York has surrendered the second most goals (3.64) and the sixth most high-danger scoring chances (12.29) per 60 minutes in the league, so Krejci's salary presents nice value.

WING

Craig Smith, NAS at TOR ($5,200): The veteran winger's rebound campaign has continued of late with a four-game point streak including 15 shots. The mini heater has Smith up to a respectable 2.29 points and 11.23 shots per hour, so his salary presents nice value against Toronto. The Maple Leafs have surrendered a healthy 11.86 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes -- 10th most in the league -- since the beginning of January, too.

Tyler Toffoli, LA vs. EDM ($5,100): The winger snapped a nine-game point drought last time out with an assist, but he's still sporting an unsustainable goal-scoring slump. Toffoli has just two tallies and a 4.5 shooting percentage through his past 17 contests, so considering he entered this season with a career 11.6 mark, statistical correction is ahead for the streaky sniper. He's also projected to skate on the No. 1 line and top power-play unit with Anze Kopitar, which projects favorably considering the duo has combined for 4.54 goals per 60 minutes this season.

Ryan Spooner, BOS at NYR ($4,700): The 26-year-old forward has quietly amassed an impressive 1.11 goals and 2.91 points per 60 minutes this season, and he enters this contest with a respectable seven goals, 12 points and 30 shots through his past 14 outings. As noted, this is a soft matchup against the Rangers, too.

DEFENSE

Jake Muzzin, LA vs. EDM ($5,500): Through eight games since returning from an undisclosed injury, Muzzin has recorded three goals, nine points, 16 shots and 12 blocked shots while logging a hefty 22:15 of ice time (2:28 with the man advantage) per contest. It's worth noting that for all the Oilers' struggles in the win column, they haven't allowed a lot of high-danger chances on the road (fourth fewest 10.17 per 60 minutes) dating back to Dec. 1. As a result, Muzzin could also carry a low ownership percentage.

Travis Dermott, TOR vs. NAS ($3,400): The rookie defenseman has showcased an encouraging cross-category profile since carving out a steady role. Dermott's collected three points, nine shots and eight blocked shots while logging 19:20 of ice time per contest through his past four outings, and considering the cap relief he provides, it's a target-worthy fantasy floor.
