FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Antti Raanta, ARI vs. EDM ($7,200): Just like rostering Mike Smith last night, rolling with Raanta is a risky move, but I believe it's a calculated risk. In his last two home games, he's allowed just three goals on 64 shots, a .951 save percentage and could have won both of those games if not for a tough-luck overtime loss his last time out. The Oilers have been a major disappointment offensively, even with the best player in the NHL in the middle of everything. They've averaged just 2.68 goals per game which ranks them 24th in the league.

Center

Sam Gagner, VAN at CBJ ($4,500): Gagner is an intriguing play facing his former team the Blue Jackets. He has points in five of his last nine games with three goals and four assists over that span. The Blue Jackets have allowed the second-most fantasy points to centers over the last four weeks (15 goals, 23 assists). Gagner has seen at least 16 minutes of ice time in each of his last six games with three goals over that span.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, CBJ vs. VAN ($5,700): Dubois has two goals and an assist in his last three games and has been tremendous as a rookie. He has 10 goals and 12 assists with four of his tallies and three of his helpers coming on the power play. The Canucks have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to centers over the last four weeks. I mentioned his production on the power play, and that bodes well for this matchup against Vancouver whose penalty kill is ranked 27th in the NHL.

Wing

Evgenii Dadonov, FLA vs. CGY ($4,800): Dadonov has been moved back up to the top line for Florida with Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau — a line that has been productive this season. He's averaged 12.43 fantasy points over his last three games, again while skating on the top line, and is penciled in on the top power-play unit. Dadonov is in a good spot to produce against Calgary who's playing its second game in as many nights.

Clayton Keller, ARI vs. EDM ($5,400): The young rookie has been pointless in his last two games, but still has been playing well with eight points over his last 10. The Oilers have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to left wings over the last four weeks with 12 goals and 12 assists allowed over that span. The Oilers have allowed 11 goals in their last three games and are playing in their fourth straight road game. Keller is in play as a one-off or part of a low-owned Coyotes mini-stack.

Vinnie Hinostroza, CHI vs. WPG ($4,400): The Blackhawks are shaking up things lately, most recently trading Richard Panik to Arizona for Anthony Duclair. Beyond that, Hinostroza has been moved up to the top line to skate with Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad, and he's flourished. He has points in six of his last seven games with two goals and six assists, and is seeing some power play time. Paying down for Hinostroza makes pairing him up with Toews in a lineup feasible in what could be the highest scoring game on the slate.

Defense

Jacob Trouba, WPG at CHI ($4,800): Chicago has been giving up a ton of production lately to defensemen, specifically 11 goals and 22 assists given up in their last 11 games. Trouba has points in three straight games with one goal and four assists over that span. He also has directed at least three shots on goal in four of his last six games. At under $5,000, Trouba is the ninth-highest priced defenseman.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI vs. EDM ($4,900): The Oilers have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to defensemen over the last four weeks. Ekman-Larsson has been a bit cold of late, but he's in a good spot tonight. Some players, for whatever reason, do very well or very poorly against certain teams, and Ekman-Larsson fits the "very well" category when it comes to Edmonton. Over his last 10 games against them, he has points in eight of those contests with four goals and eight assists. I'm all in on OEL tonight.
