Yahoo DFS Hockey: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Sunday features a four-game slate. Here are some players to consider (and avoid) when assembling your lineup…

GOALIE

Jonathan Quick, LOS at CHI ($29): Honestly, unless you want to shell out for Connor Hellebuyck ($38), I don't see any goalie worth considering other than Quick. He's been great with a 2.27 GAA and .929 save percentage, while Chicago will be on the second night of a back-to-back. They are also without Corey Crawford, which greatly increases Quick's chances of picking up a win.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Anton Forsberg, CHI vs. LOS ($28): Forsberg is listed as the projected starter on Yahoo even though he played Saturday night. Do you want to start a backup goalie on the second night of a back-to-back? Especially one who had a 3.67 GAA and a .904 save percentage before Saturday? I would hope not. Even if it is confirmed that Forsberg is starting, steer clear.

CENTER

Adrian Kempe, LOS at CHI ($13): Kempe has started 63.2 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, tops on the Kings. He's also notched a point in three straight games. The Blackhawks have allowed 34.0 shots on net per contest, and now they don't have Crawford to bail them out. Whether it's Forsberg on no rest or third-stringer Jean-Francois Berube between the pipes, you can't trust a Chicago goalie in this situation.

CENTER TO AVOID

Artem Anisimov, CHI vs. LOS ($17): Anisimov has 12 goals, with seven coming on the power play, and the Kings have the best penalty kill in the NHL. Quick has a stellar 2.27 GAA and .929 save percentage, so don't count on Anisimov having much luck.

WING

Alexander Radulov, DAL at COL ($22): Radulov scored a power-play goal Saturday, giving him nine points with the extra man through 26 games. The Russian won't have as tough of a matchup as Anisimov, as the Avalanche have the worst penalty kill of any team in action Sunday. Colorado also has a team GAA of 3.08 and a collective save percentage of .902.

Reilly Smith, VGK vs. ARI ($18): The Coyotes pitched a shutout Saturday, but before that they had a league-worst 3.57 team GAA. One good game doesn't change that, and Arizona has a 3.53 team GAA on the road. They may also be stuck using their third-string goalie Marek Langhamer in net. As for Smith, he has 20 points through 25 games, including seven in his last six tilts.

WINGS TO AVOID

Patrick Kane, CHI vs. LOS ($33): Kane is the highest-priced wing Sunday by six bucks, yet he and the Blackhawks have arguably the toughest matchup of the day. The American had to play in Dallas on Saturday (he didn't record a shot or a point), and now he's going up against a Kings team that has a 2.22 team GAA and a .930 team save percentage.

Mark Stone, OTT at WPG ($24): Stone is having a good season, but he also has a 22.6 shooting percentage that is exceedingly likely to correct itself. Connor Hellebuyck and the Jets could play a part in that, as Winnipeg's top netminder has a 2.43 GAA and a .923 save percentage. There are a lot of skaters in action with much more favorable matchups, so pick one of them instead of Stone.

DEFENSEMEN

Erik Johnson, COL vs. DAL ($18): Johnson is playing a ton of minutes, as he's averaged 26:25 of ice time. He's also put 73 shots on goal in 24 games, which leads the Avalanche. Stars netminder Kari Lehtonen has a 2.89 GAA and a .897 save percentage this season, and in his previous three seasons he hasn't had a save percentage better than .906.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, ARI at VGK ($17): Ekman-Larsson has been held without a point in his last two games, but before that he had a six-game point streak. He's put 82 shots on net in 29 games, and the Swede also has eight power-play points. Ekman-Larsson hasn't had fewer than 19 points with the extra man in his last four campaigns, so you know he's reliable while up a man.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. LOS ($19): Plenty has been said about this matchup already. The Kings have a stingy defense, as well as the league's best penalty kill featuring Jonathan Quick as the last line of defense. Keith doesn't have a goal yet this season, and it seems unlikely that will change against Los Angeles.

Josh Morrissey, WPG vs. OTT ($18): This isn't really about the matchup, though the Senators have only given up 29.8 shots on net per game. Morrissey is not the most explosive offensive player, averaging just 5.5 fantasy points per contest. There are 10 players with better production Sunday that are the same price or cheaper. Morrissey also doesn't play much on the power play (18 seconds on average), so he won't likely won't help you out on that front.
