Jooris agreed to terms on a three-year contract with Swiss club Lausanne on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Jooris was unable to crack the Maple Leafs' lineup this season, instead logging 74 games in the minors, in which he tallied just 15 points. It will be the first taste of European hockey for the 28-year-old and likely marks the end of his time in North America. The Ontario native registered 23 goals and 32 assists in 213 NHL appearances for Calgary, New York, Carolina and Pittsburgh.

Toronto will certainly benefit from Jooris' ability to play both center and wing, but it will likely come down to injuries opening the door for him to see any significant ice time. After being acquired by the Penguins last season, the Ontario native was held scoreless in nine outings while averaging a mere 7:12 of ice time. In all likelihood, the physical 27-year-old will log more time with AHL Toronto than he will the Maple Leafs in 2018-19.
Jooris managed just a dozen points in 54 games split between the Rangers and Coyotes last season, and it's hard to see him improving much after signing a cheap, one-year deal with Carolina in free agency. The ‘Canes have plenty of depth and upside on the wings, and Jooris is just a bit part who'll play a fourth-line role. Fantasy owners should look elsewhere.
After two seasons in Calgary, Jooris signed a one-year deal to join the Rangers, with whom he’ll serve as forward depth this year. He impressed as a rookie with the Flames two years ago, scoring 12 goals and 24 points in 60 games, but dropped to just 13 points last season and doesn’t seem likely to experience a big surge in his third NHL campaign. In fact, Jooris will have to fight for minutes just to serve as a fourth-liner and penalty killer on Broadway, meaning he’ll likely have little fantasy value once again.
Jooris began his season on a major roll before hitting a bit of a rookie wall and having his season come to a premature end due to a wrist injury. Still, 24 points in 60 games in a debut season is nothing to complain about, and Jooris definitely earned the right to a roster spot heading into 2015-16. He should contribute occasional offense on the fourth line, and could move up lines if he continues to improve his abilities on offense.
Jooris tallied 27 points in 73 games with AHL Abbotsford in 2013-14 and will, in all likelihood, remain in the AHL throughout 2014-15.
