McKenzie spent four seasons playing in the AHL and ECHL but failed to earn his way onto an NHL roster.
ANALYSIS
McKenzie spent time with both the Predators and Thrashers (now Jets) organizations after a solid year in the WHL in which he racked up 40 points in 68 games for Seattle. In his final professional season (2011-12), the winger primarily spent time in the penalty box, earning 113 PIM in 52 games with ECHL Bakersfield.

Mckenzie put up 15 points in 40 games for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the East Coast Hockey League in the 2009-10 season, while chipping in just 4 points during a 26 game stint in the American Hockey League as well. Given his struggles at the AHL level, it’s safe to say Mckenzie would be a long shot to play with the Thrashers this coming season unless he can somehow beat out the plethora of young talent that the team is putting together.
McKenzie is a prospect forward that signed with the Preds as a free agent at the end of last season. He's made quite a resume playing the last five years in the WHL. Last season McKenzie put up career numbers with 19 goals and 21 assists in 68 games. The big power forward particularly impressed during the playoffs for the Seattle Thunderbirds, racking up eight goals in 12 playoff games. McKenzie is a young, raw talent and will continue to sharpen his skills in the Predators' farm system this season.
