Weekly Rankings: Week 10 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Sunday Update complete.

BYE WEEKS: Baltimore, Kansas City, Oakland, Philly

Here are my rankings (if you want a second opinion, please see our formula-based projections - these are not tied into my rankings at all) for the coming week at each position to help you decide your starting lineup. Our rankings are based on the following scoring system: four points for a passing touchdown; six points for a rushing/receiving touchdown; one point for every 20 passing yards; and one point for every 10 rushing/receiving yards. ***Flex Rankings are for PPR leagues.***

I will update these during the week, usually twice per week to account for injury or other news during practice. The timing of those updates will vary based on the news at hand and my schedule for the given week. But the first of those updates usually won't happen until Thursday. At any rate, I will post a "last updated" note at the top of the article, or an "update in progress" note if it's while I'm doing it. If there is no such note, that means it's my first pass at the rankings for this current week.

By all means, if you want to discuss a rank, or want me to add a player, chime in on the comments. I try to be receptive to your feedback and try to respond to most comments, though on occasion the volume can be quite thick. Please refer to the rankings first when asking "should I start Player A vs. Player

Please refer to the rankings first when asking "should I start Player A vs. Player B?". And then refer to the rankings again before asking a generic starting decision question. My response will correspond with the rankings.

Quarterback

1.Matthew Stafford DET vs. Cle
Note: Turned in a masterful performance against the Packers on Monday night, and now he draws the Browns at home.
2.Drew Brees NO at Buf
3.Dak Prescott DAL at Atl
4.Russell Wilson SEA at Ari
5.Tom Brady NE at Den
6.Jared Goff LA vs. Hou
Note: Goff averaged over 14 yards per attempt last week with the Giants playing without Janoris Jenkins.
7.*Ben Roethlisberger PIT at Ind
Note: Moved up despite this being a road start. The Colts released Vontae Davis after he was declared out for the season.
8.*Cam Newton CAR vs. Mia
Note: The good news is Newton's running game is fully back - he had 86 yards rushing Sunday. The bad news is that the passing game is lagging - he finally eclipsed his rushing yard total in the fourth quarter. (Shoulder) Limited practice Thursday. ***Full practice on Friday.***
9.Matt Ryan ATL vs. Dal
10.Josh McCown NYJ at TB
11.Tyrod Taylor BUF vs. NO
12.Andy Dalton CIN at Ten
13.Kirk Cousins WAS vs. Min
14.Marcus Mariota TEN vs. Cin

19.Philip Rivers LAC at Jax
20.Jacoby Brissett IND vs. Pit
21.DeShone Kizer CLE at Det
22.Blake Bortles JAC vs. LAC
23.*Brock Osweiler DEN vs. NE
Note: Osweiler wasn't an improvement over Trevor Siemian (19-for-38, 208 yards, a touchdown, two interceptions and a fumble), but he'll get another start this week. Interestingly enough, it's viewed in comparison to Paxton Lynch, who isn't yet ready to play.
24.Brett Hundley GB at Chi
25.*C.J. Beathard SF vs. NYG
Note: It's uncertain right now whether Beathard or Garoppolo will start this week. Beathard is expected to start.
26.Mitchell Trubisky CHI vs. GB
27.*Drew Stanton ARZ vs. Sea
Note: ***Sprained his knee in the loss to the Seahawks on Thursday. Blaine Gabbert could start next week.***
28.*Tom Savage HOU at LAR
Note: Will remain the starter in Week 10 over T.J. Yates and Matt McGloin (since released and replaced by Josh Johnson) despite his uncivilized performance against the Colts. The Texans are hedging their bets a little by giving Yates some reps with the first team this week.
29.*Jimmy Garoppolo SF vs. NYG
30.*Jameis Winston TB vs. NYJ
Note: Winston will be shut down for at least two weeks after aggravating his shoulder injury Sunday against the Saints. Winston visited Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday, who found no new damage to his shoulder.

Note: Hyde had a whopping 11 targets last week, with Garcon

10.Alvin Kamara NO at Buf
11.*Devonta Freeman ATL vs. Dal
Note: Emerged with an 'undisclosed injury' after the loss to the Panthers - it's uncertain yet if it's related to the shoulder stinger that bothered Freeman last week. Full participant in Thursday's practice (knee). ***Full practice Friday, no longer on the injury list.***

20.*Kenyan Drake MIA at Car
Note: Had 37 snaps compared to 30 for Damien Williams.

22.Dion Lewis NE at Den
23.Ameer Abdullah DET vs. Cle
Note: Put the ball on the ground twice, including once near the goal line. He got lucky on the latter fumble, as from some angles it appeared as if the Packers recovered the ball.
24.Aaron Jones GB at Chi
Note: Only five carries Monday night - game flow had a decent part, in that the Packers were down 17-3 at the half. But also Ty Montgomery looked good in a couple of runs, perhaps keeping him on the field more.
25.Chris Thompson WAS vs. Min
26.*Ty Montgomery GB at Chi
Note: Locked into passing downs. Game flow should be different than Monday night, however.
27.Frank Gore IND vs. Pit
