2023 Fantasy Outlook
Erickson has appeared in 99 NFL games but has only 96 career catches, as the 30-year-old wide receiver has played predominantly on special teams. He'll compete for a roster spot with the Jets in 2023 and could contribute as a return man, but Erickson's unlikely to carve out a substantial role on offense. Read Past Outlooks

Two more catches in loss
WRLos Angeles Chargers
January 8, 2024
Erickson caught two of his five targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The 31-year-old joined the active roster Week 11 and, after injuries to Joshua Palmer (knee) and Keenan Allen (heel), somewhat miraculously emerged as the team's top target. finishing with 16 receptions for 232 yards, both of them higher figures than his past three seasons combined. It's safe to say the veteran wideout won't be a highly sought-after free agent despite the positive small sample size, but it's possible Erickson could at least make a preseason roster given his special teams acumen.

Erickson got some playing time on offense back in 2019 with the Bengals when the team's WR group was devastated by injuries, but he's otherwise made his impact on special teams for the most part, including work on both kick and punt returns. He'll compete for a backup job and return duties in Washington this year.
Thanks to injuries to A.J. Green, John Ross and Auden Tate, Erickson saw more action in the offense than ever before in 2019, catching 43 passes for 529 yards and adding five carries for 33 yards. The rate stats aren't that impressive and don't bode well for future opportunities in 2020, but more importantly he's buried deep on the depth chart behind no fewer than five other receivers, and lost his role as the primary kick returner to boot. It will be a struggle for Erickson to make the active roster in 2020.
Injuries forced the Bengals to use Erickson more on offense last season than they typically prefer, especially over the final three games when both A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd were out with injuries. Even then, however, Erickson's looks and production were pretty modest (11 catches for 121 yards on 13 targets). His primary contribution remains in the return game, both on kickoffs (1,049 yards) and punts (212 yards).
Erickson was more active on offense than in his rookie season, as the Bengals' coaching staff became disenchanted with Tyler Boyd and John Ross, though Erickson's peak came in Week 2 against the Texans, when he had four catches for 62 yards and was on the field for 37 offensive snaps. His greatest contribution again came on special teams, as he was the team's primary kick and punt returner, netting 941 return yards. His role on offense will likely be reduced in 2018, presuming Boyd and Ross can stay healthy and return to Marvin Lewis's good graces.
Erickson, an undrafted rookie out of the University of Wisconsin, made a strong case for a roster spot during the preseason, shining in the return game and also contributing on offense. While unlikely to land any higher than fifth on the depth chart at wideout, the rookie could open the season as Cincinnati's top return man for kicks and/or punts, assuming he survives final cuts.
