ANALYSIS
Telfer (undisclosed), who spent each of his two seasons in the league with the Browns, was nearly traded to Kansas City in exchange for linebacker Dadi Nicolas earlier in the offseason. The trade was called off, and the Browns elected to instead waive Telfer. The 26-year-old then failed to pass a physical with the Colts before being let go. The 2016 sixth-rounder having logged five receptions for 40 yards over 30 games over his two NFL seasons.

Despite only recording two receptions for four yards last season, Telfer has an opportunity to explode in the Browns offense as he will play second-fiddle to rookie David Njoku. While Seth DeValve had a more productive season in 2016, Telfer maintains a higher spot on the depth chart. Should he secure the No. 2 position, look for Telfer to see increased reps in 2017 and could garner a little fantasy buzz.
Telfer, a former sixth-round pick out of USC, was plagued by a foot injury upon the completion of his collegiate career and was forced to undergo a long recovery period that didn't allow him to appear in a single game throughout his rookie campaign. He may be a long shot to make the Browns' roster heading into the 2016 season, as Gary Barnidge and E.J. Bibbs have the upper hand in the tight end pecking order.
Telfer, a sixth-round pick out of USC, will join a crowded group of tight ends on the current Cleveland roster. Unlike the rest, however, his size (6-4, 260 points) makes him well-equipped for run blocking. In what projects to be a run-first offense, this role could certainly be enough to allow him to make the final cut. He does have a bit of a concerning injury history, though, as he had arthroscopic surgery on his knee last season and foot surgery back in February. Telfer may be able to overcome that to earn NFL snaps, but his fantasy value will likely be limited in his rookie campaign.
