Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
After being selected with the 48th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, Zipser was a nice surprise for the Bulls during his rookie season. While he struggled to secure a role in the regular rotation over the first two months of the season, he really brought it the second half of the year and ended up averaging a respectable 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 three-pointer across 23.3 minutes over the last 27 games. He was solid from the floor with a 44.2 percent clip and was a decent three-point shooter as well at 37.7 percent. Looking forward to the 2017-18 campaign, Zipser is in line to take on a bigger role following the departure of Jimmy Butler to the Timberwolves. Zipser will be battling with the likes of Justin Holiday and Denzel Valentine for minutes at small forward and he'll even have a chance to open the season as a starter with a strong training camp. That should mean a significant bump in minutes overall for the soon-to-be sophomore who averaged just 19.2 minutes over his entire rookie year. That said, Zipser isn't going to be a huge threat in any one category and will likely be more of a hustle player who helps spread the floor with his three-point shooting. Zipser is more of a role player than anything, and while his numbers should rise on a bigger workload, his Fantasy numbers likely won't be anything spectacular. He may be worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues if he's able to secure a starting spot.
The Bulls took a chance on Zipser with the 48th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and hope the German wing player can stick at the NBA level right away, as he was signed to a guaranteed contract. Zipser spent the previous four seasons with FC Bayern Munich in the German Federal Basketball League, averaging 6.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.9 minutes per game in 2015-16. While those numbers are relatively unimpressive, even by that league's standards, Zipser intrigued the Bulls with his athleticism and outside shooting ability. Still, the 22-year-old is unlikely to be more than a minor bench contributor this season, given the fact that Jimmy Butler, Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic, and even Tony Snell will likely slot above him on the depth chart.
