Yahoo DFS Baseball: Friday Picks

Yahoo DFS Baseball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Pitcher

Clayton Kershaw, LAD vs. ARI ($56): Kershaw has dominated the Diamondbacks over the past two seasons, striking out 30 over 22.2 innings, allowing three runs and 11 hits in that span. He's pitched more to contact in the second half of this year, posting a 24.9 percent fan rate compared to 31.4 during the first half, but he should ratchet that up well against a D'Backs lineup that ranks seventh in the league in strikeout rate against lefties.

Stephen Strasburg, WAS vs. CHC ($48): I'm slightly worried about the Nats' and Cubs respective recent postseason successes and failures, but Strasburg simply is too hot to pass up. He has allowed earned runs in only three of 10 second-half starts, posting a 32.5 percent strikeout rate in the process. He's struck out Cubs in his last two starts against them, spanning 14.0 innings.

Catcher

Chris Iannetta, ARI at LAD ($9): Iannetta feasted on lefties during the regular season, sporting a .409 wOBA, 148 wRC+ and .967 OPS against them over 80 regular season at bats. Those numbers may not translate against the aforementioned Kershaw, who isn't your average southpaw, but Iannetta is a respectable 8-of-27 (.296) with a homer, six RBI and six walks in his career against Kershaw.

First Base

Yuli Gurriel, HOU vs. BOS ($13): Gurriel doesn't have the power upside many at his position do, going deep just three times in September. But he's riding a seven-game hitting streak entering Friday, posting a .389 wOBA and 148 wRC+ in September, giving him a seemingly stable floor.

Second Base

Dustin Pedroia, BOS at HOU ($10): Pedroia would see a slight increase in appeal if he returns to the leadoff spot in the Sox lineup, but his .392 wOBA, 144 wRC+ and .929 OPS play well at this price. Astros' starter Dallas Keuchel hasn't been hit hard by either handed bats but does have a 4.24 second half ERA, and I expect the Sox to come with a sound approach in an effort to even the series.

Third Base

Rafael Devers, BOS at HOU ($12): Devers has driven in runs in four straight and had doubled in three straight prior to Thursday's Game 1. He posted a .456 wOBA,188 wRC+ and 1.078 OPS against lefties during the regular season.

Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD vs. ARI ($10): Second-half injuries pushed Seager's production and price down, but he hit two homers in his last five games and offers elite potential at a bargain price. He posted a solid .353 wOBA and 120 wRC+ against righties during the regular season, giving him plenty of chances to out-produce his low price.

Outfield

Bryce Harper, WAS vs. CHC ($18): Few can match Harper's upside, and if the Nationals make a run into late October, I'd expect Harper's price to be elevated. He looked like his old self in a regular season finale, stealing a base while also notching two hits, two runs and a walk. He posted a .432 wOBA, 167 wRC+ and .306 ISO at home against righties during the regular season.

George Springer, HOU vs. BOS ($14): The appeal starts with Springer's .413 wOBA, 165 wRC+ and .972 ISO against lefties. But it extends given that Springer hasn't recorded a hit over his last three games. He's gone hitless in three straight four times this year, and has never once gone hitless in four straight. That stable floor works well in a format with only eight teams playing.

Austin Jackson, CLE vs. NYY ($11): Jackson sports a team-leading .429 wOBA, 171 wRC+ and 1.013 OPS among Indian regulars against lefties. He closed the season in great form, hitting .320 in September, and is 9-of-30 (.300) in his career against Yanks' starter C.C. Sabathia.
