Imani Abdullah

For a young pitcher who is still more projection than current tools, Abdullah handled himself quite well in his first taste of a full-season league last year. His 20.1 percent strikeout rate and 4.1 percent walk rate were eye opening, as his secondary offerings are still developing, and his control was not believed to be this good coming into the year. Abdullah's fastball sits in the low-90s and his second best pitch is a curveball that could develop into a plus pitch down the road, but is more of an average offering right now. At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, he has ideal size and is a good athlete, which should allow him to make command gains as he matures and could also lead to an uptick in velocity. Further development of his curveball and changeup will be paramount if he is to reach his potential, but considering he will likely make a few starts at High-A before his 20th birthday, Abdullah is already ahead of schedule.
