Set to attend spring training

Faulkner will attend Baltimore's spring training as a non-roster invitee.
ANALYSIS
Faulkner played well at Triple-A Norfolk after being acquired from the Rangers last season. Over 34 games (38.2 innings), he compiled a 2.79 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He still has work to do in terms of control, as he walked 24 batters in that time, but could appear in the majors should he continue showing improvement at spring training and with Norfolk.

Saturday Lineup Card: Go With Eduardo

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Thanks to a strong debut in the majors at the tail end of the 2015 campaign, Faulkner cracked the 2016 Opening Day roster. That's about where the good times halted for the former 14th-round draft pick, as he quickly got himself demoted by putting up a 7.94 ERA and 2.12 WHIP while accumulating a rough 1:4 K:BB in eight appearances out of the Rangers' bullpen in the first two months of the season. He improved after his demotion to the minors, although a 3.97 ERA and 4.0 BB/9 still aren't figures that punch a ticket to the show. If Faulkner can revert to his past form, he could once again compete for a spot as a lefty specialist, although even if he does manage to earn a roster spot, it's unlikely that he'll crack the back-end of the bullpen considering the other, more reliable options at the Rangers' disposal.
Faulkner made his major league debut in mid-August following a short stint at Triple-A Round Rock after beginning the season at Double-A Frisco. He was used exclusively in a relief role at Triple-A and beyond after making 15 starts among 28 appearances with Frisco. He made just 11 appearances, covering 9.2 innings, in the majors but should give Texas another effective left-handed weapon along with Jake Diekman with anything resembling a strong spring training.
