ANALYSIS
Rhoades has yet to make his major-league debut but was effective in 2018, amassing a 2.54 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 78 innings in Double-A and Triple-A. Last year he struggled with a 7.02 ERA and 74:35 K:BB, working exclusively with Triple-A Salt Lake. Given his past success, it wouldn't be surprising to see him eventually latch on elsewhere as organizational depth, but he'll have to show more consistency prior to appearing in the majors.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
After a stellar final two seasons at Illinois State, Rhoades was selected with the 119th overall pick of the 2014 first-year player draft by the Angels. Rhoades split time between the bullpen and starting rotation in college, but has started almost exclusively the last two seasons. While he boasted a K/9 rate over 10 in his first year at High-A Inland Empire, he was bitten by the home run allowing 14 in 50.2 innings. While his excellent showing with the Redbirds has led him to begin his professional career in the rotation, he may profile better in the bullpen, where he can mitigate the damage from his shaky command, (3.2 BB/9 last season) and maximize the value of his fastball, which can top out at 94 miles per hour. Coming off his homer-prone season, Rhoades looks to be a candidate to remain at Inland Empire to begin 2016.
