Reassigned to minors camp
PMiami Marlins
March 10, 2017
Marone was reassigned to minor league camp Friday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
The 6-foot-3 right-hander likely will start 2017 at Triple-A New Orleans, looking to improve at the level after stumbling at Triple-A Columbus last year. The 27-year-old has struggled to a 7.33 ERA in the majors over 33 games but has produced OK results in the minors with a 3.67 ERA over six seasons.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2014
2013
Maronde came into 2013 with the expectation that he would pitch in the minor leagues for most of the season, but he received a chance to join the big club when Sean Burnett first began experiencing forearm problems in April. Unfortunately for Maronde, his second cup of coffee in the big leagues didn't quite go as planned, as the left-hander was tattooed to the tune of a 6.75 ERA in 10 appearances. Despite his lack of success in the big leagues, however, Maronde showed off his big arm in 56.1 innings pitched with Double-A Arkansas, striking out 10.1 batters per nine innings. The major roadblock for Maronde at this point in his career seems to be his lack of command, as he walked nearly 6.0 BB/9 at Double-A Arkansas last season. Maronde may get another shot to pitch in the Angels' bullpen in 2014, but with Sean Burnett expected to return from injury in spring training, he may once again get time to develop as a lefty reliever in the minor leagues.
The Angels picked Maronde up in the third round of the 2011 draft, and he's been an incredibly pleasant surprise for the organization thus far. Amazingly enough, he began the 2012 season in the rookie league, but actually made 12 appearances for the big league squad by the end of the year, striking out seven batters and allowing only one run in six innings. Despite the impressive stint in the bullpen, Maronde figures to open the season in the starting rotation of either the Angels' Double-A or Triple-A affiliate. If he continues to progress quickly, he could join the big league starting rotation for the 2014 season or even make a few spot starts before the end of this year.
