Jones signed a minor-league contract Friday with the Dodgers that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jones hasn't appeared in a game at the MLB level since way back in 2015 with the Mariners, but maybe the Dodgers can work some magic here. The outfielder-turned-reliever posted a 4.24 ERA over 17 innings last season in the Rangers' minor-league system.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
After 108 games with the Mariners in 2014, Jones hoped to land a reserve outfield spot last spring. The Mariners, though, wisely realized that speed is his only weapon and parked him at Triple-A Tacoma for most of the season. In 31 plate appearances with the Mariners, Jones reached base five times -- three hits and two walks -- and you can't steal if you're not on base. Jones has no power and he has struggled with plate discipline against big league pitching. The only surprise when the Mariners traded him this offseason was that the Rangers wanted him. He re-signed with Texas after being non-tendered in December, but Jones' upside looks to be limited to pinch running and as a late-game defensive replacement.
Jones was the Mariners' regular center fielder for a good portion of summer, but he gave way to Austin Jackson after the trade-deadline acquisition. Speed is Jones' only offensive weapon as he has no power, and he struggled with plate discipline. A two-month stretch with his batting average in the .280 range was largely built on a high BABIP. On the basepaths, though, he was caught stealing just once in 28 attempts. And even after Jackson's arrival, he still kept running, stealing seven bases in his last 29 games. Jones could land a reserve outfield role in spring training. While his bat won't do anyone any favors, his speed his intriguing.
