Closer Watch
Atlanta – No closer controversy here, but we should nonetheless spotlight Craig Kimbrel, who is enjoying an incredible sophomore campaign. Though Aroldis Chapman has generated the majority of the closer hype this season, Kimbrel has been every bit his equal, posting a 1.23 ERA, 0.66 WHIP, and a staggering 16.48 K/9 rate. Kimbrel recorded his 34th save of the season in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Rockies in typical fashion, striking out two batters while giving up a harmless single. With Chapman potentially moving to the Reds' rotation next season, Kimbrel will likely be considered the top closer in many fantasy circles heading into 2013.

Marco Estrada, SP, MIL – The Brewers might have their woes as a pitching staff (particulary in their leaky bullpen), but between Yovani Gallardo, Mike Fiers, and the now departed Zack Greinke, the rotation has been an excellent source for strikeouts. Also included in that mix is Marco Estrada, who began the season in long relief before a season-ending injury to Chris Narveson opened up a spot in the rotation earlier in the year. He's more than held down the fort at the back end of the rotation, striking out 119 batters in 112.2 innings while posting a fair 3.99 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Unfortunately, he's been victimized both by his bullpen and his offense, as he sports just a 2-6 record over his 19 starts. If you're willing to put aside his inability to earn wins, Estrada could be a nice addition for the fantasy playoffs. Over his last four starts, he's had strikeout totals of 9, 8, 10, and 5. Collect those K's before someone else does.
